The Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut is closed effective immediately.
In addition to general visitation, all programs, classes, and events are postponed or cancelled through March 30. This decision was made upon learning that a visitor to the Museum last Sunday, March 8, 2020, is now in a Bridgeport hospital with COVID-19. Due to this fact, the Museum is taking proactive measures by closing until April 22, 2020. The best available scientific and medical information strongly indicates that reducing social transmission is the best way to mitigate the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. As part of this effort, we believe it is in the best interest of the community to close at this time. We hope to be able to reopen April 22, but that will be subject to further evaluation of the situation at that time.
If you visited the museum on Sunday, March 8, 2020, you should monitor your health as per CDC guidelines.
For local updates and information about COVID-19 please refer to:
The CDC will be providing guidance in the next day or so on Community Mitigation practices that will help Connecticut and different local health agencies determine strategies to put into place to help prevent transmission of COVID-19 in their community. It is important we all stay informed by reputable sources such as the CDC, CT DPH and LLHD as the Coronavirus enters Connecticut.
We understand that this is a dynamic, quickly changing situation. As always, we will communicate clearly and directly about our plans and activities to our valued visitors, staff, volunteers and partners for future announcements/updates.
